A lot has changed around the studio in the past two years.
I remodeled my home and added an extension to my second floor so that I could have a studio in my home. That following fall, I moved my downtown studio back into my home.
Then, that winter of 2022, I went through a separation and an eventual divorce the following September of 2023.
With all of the personal changes, I decided that I no longer wanted to be self-employed. I needed to eliminate as many areas of stress in my life as possible; and, I thought that working a 9-5 and getting a weekly paycheck was one way to do that.
I also have my interior design degree. So, I applied and was hired as an Outside Sales Rep / Residential Estimator position in a nearby town. Photography had to take a back seat for awhile.
And, I was very happy.
Then, in March 2023, I was diagnosed with breast cancer.
And, then my employer fired me.
The last year has been hour by hour healing, recovering–both physically and emotionally– and working hard on figuring out where I was going to land, professionally.
And, one year after my surgery, I am going to invest my energy back in my photography business. I have refreshed my studio space (and, I think that it is looking really amazing) and have a new energy for producing great works of art.
